Located in the heart of the Fashion District of downtown Toronto,District Lofts was a project of Context Development launched in 1998. The building is an innovative 14-storey,148 unit twin tower condominium located on Richmond Street just east of Spadina Avenue. Upon completion the CMHC awarded this project its “Innovative Building Award”due to its features of:
- Advancement of urban intensification and mixed use through non-conventional design
- Integration of public and private automobile parking
- Promotion of natural ventilation and daylighting
- Application of efficient structural engineering components
- Deployment of underslung elevators to eliminate penthouse mechanical rooms
- Innovative fire egress strategy
